Government of Alberta - Culture and Community Spirit Grant Program
Community Spirit Grant
Thanks to the Community Spirit grant the generosity of individual donors to The PREP Program was matched with a government grant of $25,000. The grant program is in its inaugural year and PREP was able to include those generous individual donors who made a donation:
-
in memory of a loved one
-
through United Way Donor Choice
-
as part of their annual gift giving
-
to fundraisers such as Let's Talk Hockey
It is wonderful that the Government of Alberta encourages Albertans to donate and support causes in the community close to their hearts.
Scope of Project
The funds were used to offset the costs of a major renovation to The PREP Program that has benefitted our clients immensely and adds to the welcome families receive at PREP. There are now 2 additional offices for reading tutoring and/or speech-language therapy. In addition the multipurpose room now has a room divider, so that we can have classes, meetings or workshops booked at the same time. The waiting room now has a small refreshment area where parents can enjoy a cup of coffee and students can get a cold drink. All of the improvements have been met with enthusiasm and much appreciation by our families.
Our friends at Hopewell stepped up and the project was completed "at cost" to The PREP Program. From the design to construction to completion; the Hopewell crew did an outstanding job!
