Services for Jr./Sr. High Students
PREP 4 is a place to learn with, as well as from, other teenagers who share similar challenges in life, respecting differences and accepting each other.
Our goal is that teens graduate PREP 4 with the tools to exude pride in self, demonstrate respect for others and be empowered to make continued progress in skills for independent living. We hope that all young adults with Down syndrome give back to the community in meaningful jobs and volunteer experiences.
Each week, PREP 4 welcomes 34 students enrolled in many school divisions including the Calgary Board of Education, Calgary Separate School District, Rocky View School Division and the Independent School Association. Students attend PREP 4 on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday afternoon, depending on their grade level.
Did you know that…
- Many of the PREP 4 teens joined the PREP Program as toddlers;
- the PREP 4 teaching team consists of a Speech Language Pathologist, teacher and education assistants;
- teens from neighboring junior high schools volunteer on PREP 4 afternoons;
- staff from the Eckert Centre will partner with PREP to offer a Meaningful Volunteer and Employment class in 2007, due to generous donations from the Woodridge Charity;
