PREP 1 – Early Learning
Early Learning is the first step of your journey at PREP. Come and join us for a weekly parent and tot play group. Early Learning provides a WARMPREP welcome to parents and their children. The Early Learning Program is the FIRST experience families have with PREP and we strive to lay the groundwork for a TRUSTING RELATIONSHIP that will foster many happy years at PREP. Parents learn to focus on the JOYFUL LEARNING and the Early Learning class provides a safe and fun environment for all.
PREP 2 – ECS
PREP’s enriched Early Childhood Learning (ECS) classes for children 2 1/2 to 5 1/2 years of age nurtures the love of learning! Each student has an Individual Program Plan (IPP) that identifies goals for social, behavioural, school readiness, communication and motor skill development. Individual speech therapy is offered once weekly and parents are encouraged to participate in therapy sessions. Occupational therapy and physiotherapy are provided on a regular consult basis to the class, and on an individual basis as needed. Physiotherapy services are provided by Calgary Youth Physiotherapy.
PREP 3 – Elementary
Learning to speak up clearly and confidently is the goal for every student. For some it takes more practice and coaching. PREP has the expertise, commitment and heart to teach students, coach parents, and encourage teachers to make that goal a reality. Thanks to PREP’s not for profit Board and the sponsorship of the Woodridge Charity Golf Tournament children in all grades are welcome to access the best at PREP! PREP 3 offers more than therapy services. The perks that students love include… Parties and celebrations, Zoo Camp… and through these special events students build long-lasting friendships!
PREP 4 – Jr./Sr. High
PREP 4 is a place to learn with, as well as from, other teenagers with Down syndrome who share similar challenges in life, respecting differences and accepting each other. Our goal is that teens graduate PREP 4 with the tools to exude pride in self, demonstrate respect for others and be empowered to make continued progress in skills for independent living. We hope that all young adults with Down syndrome give back to the community in meaningful jobs and volunteer experiences. Each week, PREP 4 welcomes students enrolled in many school divisions including the Calgary Board of Education, Calgary Separate School District, Rocky View School Division and the Independent School Association.
Mavericks Every Child a Reader
The Mavericks Every Child a Reader Program provides individualized reading instruction to PREP 3 students in grade one to grade six. We are in our 5th year of providing a reading program that is fully funded by the generosity of our sponsors, both corporate and individual. We require only a nominal materials fee of $35 at the time of registration. Our goal is to keep the cost of this program minimal in order to encourage all families to participate.
