Executive Director’s Report

The big news this past year was the decision to end the Woodridge Charity Golf Tournament on its 30th anniversary. For Gerry & Elaine Wood and their dedicated team of staff and volunteers the decision was one they struggled with. Over the years they have invested much time, heart, commitment and passion to bettering the lives of individuals with Down syndrome in Calgary.  However, all good things must end and the Woodridge Charity Golf Tournament 2015 was a great success and a wonderful day for the memory books. I speak for our Board of Directors and families in expressing our heartfelt thanks for the generous support that enabled PREP to:

  • Purchase our facility; the Woodridge PREP Centre is named in honour of the tournament
  • Expand PREP 3 & PREP 4 services to provide more services to more children
  • Welcome students regardless of school board, with minimal wait times for services
  • Keep fees affordable for parents paying fee for service and waive fees for those in need
  • Make building improvements, that maintains our investment, ensures the safety and well being of our clients, and provides a great learning environment.

Gerry and Elaine Wood assure us that their support is staunch and their family will continue to support PREP in different ways. To that end they invited past sponsors and individual golfers in the tournament to participate in the Woodridge PREP Partner Match. The Wood family matched every donation and as of this date over $100,000 has been raised for PREP.

The Board of Directors honoured the Wood family at a celebration dinner in June and we look forward to their continued support and friendship. The Woods were presented with a beautiful commemorative sculpture that represents the importance of family and the value of every individual.
